What to Bring to Your First Padel Lesson in Cyprus
A simple checklist for your first padel lesson—clothing, shoes, and what your coach usually provides. Be prepared and get the most out of every session.
Your first padel lesson is just around the corner. To make the most of it and feel comfortable on court, here’s what to bring and what you can usually expect from your coach or the club.
Clothing
Wear something you can move in: shorts or leggings, a T-shirt or sports top, and clothes that wick sweat. Cyprus can get hot, especially from spring to autumn, so light colours and breathable fabric help. Avoid long, loose sleeves or heavy fabrics that could get in the way of your swing.
Shoes
Court shoes are best—they grip the artificial surface and support quick side steps. If you don’t have padel or tennis shoes yet, any non-marking sports shoe with good grip is fine for a first lesson. Avoid running shoes with a high heel; they’re not designed for lateral movement and can increase the risk of slipping or twisting.
Water and sun protection
Bring a water bottle. Many clubs have refill points, but it’s good to have your own. In summer, sunscreen and a cap or visor are essential. Some courts are shaded; others are in full sun—your padel coach or the club can tell you what to expect.
Do you need your own racket?
Many coaches and clubs have spare paddles for beginners. Ask when you book your first lesson. If you’re serious about continuing, buying your own padel racket after a few sessions will help you get used to one consistent paddle. Your coach can advise on type and weight.
Before you go
Arrive a few minutes early so you can find the court, change if needed, and warm up. If you have any injuries or health concerns, tell your coach at the start. Then relax and enjoy—your first lesson is about learning the basics and having fun.
